I had put workouts off to take care of a sick parent for a little over six months and when they were better, I realized I was not. I needed something not only for my physical health but my mental health and a friend suggested I try CrossFit. When I started, I was really just looking for something to get in better shape to be able to do the things I like to do. I was nervous my first couple classes, however I found the coaches were understanding but pushed me which is what I needed.
I continue CrossFit because I want to be healthy in the future and enjoy the present with my family and friends. CrossFit makes me test myself daily and stay motivated because I can see the improvements I am making. I am only in competition with myself. I love the mental aspect. As I get more involved I see that this is a huge aspect of CrossFit. It’s amazing how a different mindset can drastically change a workout.
I have met a ton of awesome people who have my back and support me whenever it’s needed. The challenge of the WOD and the desire to suck less brings everyone together and you just can’t beat the camaraderie.
