Who We Are
Established in May, 2009, CrossFit Bloomington is the oldest and largest CrossFit Affiliate in the Bloomington area. We are open 7 days a week, offering 47 hours of Classes each week for the convenience of our Members. We are located at 3903 S. Walnut St, in a spacious, 6000 square-foot warehouse space with a 22-foot ceiling. We also have an adjoining 4000 square-foot loft area with wrestling mats, for our Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Classes.
Since our inception, we have had the opportunity to train Members at all levels of strength and fitness. CFB’s Membership has included Olympic hopefuls, college students, attorneys, musicians, engineers, professors, housewives, pharmacists, carpenters, physicians, police officers, sales clerks, painters, high school students, massage therapists, kindergarten teachers, corporate executives, martial artists….Currently. our youngest Member is 9 years old, while our oldest is 68 years young. Several of our Members can do over thirty consecutive pull-ups; others are working on getting their first.
Our Members have widely varying levels of fitness, strength, and athletic experience. The functional, whole-body movements that we use are easily tailored to the specific needs, abilities, and limitations of each individual Member. As a result, all of our Members can train together, at their own, appropriate level of intensity. This means that we can start a person at any level of ability and jump-start their progress with the proven CrossFit methodology!
People sometimes tell us they plan on signing up with CFB as soon as they get “fit enough” or “strong enough” to do CrossFit. But the people who have decided to take the plunge and start right away at CrossFit Bloomington have transformed their lives. If you are ready to start changing your life, you are ready to join CFB!
CFB is a large family of people, from all walks of life, who share a common commitment to forging elite fitness in a supportive, and inspiring group environment. We are a very tight-knit Community of people, most of whom have joined as a referral. Many times, during their free, introductory visit, people have said that they simply wanted to find out what their friends or family members (our Members) had been raving about.
Our Trainers strive to help each and every Member move toward their true athletic potential, which very often exceeds their imagined limits, with an eye to minimizing the risk of injury or of aggravating any chronic musculo-skeletal problems they may have.
Rather than being a one-size-fits-all training philosophy, ours is a client-centered approach that uses proven strategies for maximizing the rate of Strength and Fitness development, in a motivational and supportive group environment, under the close supervision of CrossFit-Certified Trainers. While Members’ experiences of the Workout Of the Day (WOD) are similar, the specifics of their interaction with the Trainer are unique.
CFB currently offers Brazilian Jiu Jitsu classes. In the past, we have offered specialty classes in Gymnastics, Kettlebells, Yoga, and Parkour. As tempting as it is for many people to start thinking that Life is all about CrossFit, our view is that CrossFit is all about Life. That’s why we specialize in Functional exercises that use the body’s natural movements, and why we keep branching out to include other Functional Activities. We fully intend to continue doing so.
